Uncertain Adventure @Former Bukit Timah Fire Station

Site Location: 260 Upper Bukit Timah Rd, Singapore 588190
Project duration: 4 months
Motive: To create a natural environment learning space for family, kids and naturalists and promote lifelong learning through observation, play & hands-on activities.

Design Concept
Learning from and in an ecosystem.
Everything is connected in an ecosystem. There is a support system, give & take, observe, learn & adapt. They have a relationship where they depend on each other to survive.
An Ecosystem
-
is always constantly growing and evolving.
-
is very resilient and adaptable.
-
is very diverse yet connected through interrelated patterns. Cycles such as nutrients, water, energy flow & etc.
-
can create opportunities for inter-mingling.

Ideation of Project
The way children learn today is in a confined room...
Adults have become lifeless from their busy urban life...
The reason is that we lack exposure to nature. Thus, I wanted to create a space to foster learning and rejuvenation in nature. Mimicking an ecosystem, users absorb the forest's ambience through their senses and observation skills. Space provides children to learn through observation, play & hands-on activities. While boosting their curiosity and enhancing their creative thinking. Users can come here to reset their minds and bodies, leaving them renewed and refreshed to tackle their challenges in life.
