Native Edible Plants Cultivation
Berlin’s winters are cold and continental, with average lows around -2°C to -5°C (28°F to 23°F) and occasional colder spells.Winter frost last from late October to mid April.Frost tolerant plants like Wild Garlic and Chickory will be planted in the raised planter boxes along the ramps. Whereas Frost vulnerable plants like tomato and lettuce will be cultivated in the greenhouses, where it will be heated during the winter to grow at a temperature more than 15 degree celsius.Frost tolerant plant will have additional protection through the installation of cold frames.
